Find your voice in couples work.
The Philosophy
Most couples therapists are trained in a single model and spend years wondering if they're doing it right. The Gottman therapist who worries they run too many workshops. The EFT therapist who senses a couple needs something more direct. The RLT-trained clinician who wants to bring in more attachment science.
"The best couples therapists aren't the ones who follow a model most faithfully. They're the ones who know several models well enough to move fluidly between them."
This group isn't about finding the right model. It's about finding your model — the integrated, personal voice that draws from all of them.

Multi-modal lens on every presenting couple
Colleagues who understand couples work's complexity
Your own integrative style — not a copy of anyone else's
Monthly reading that deepens your theoretical roots
Trust your instincts — and know when to shift approach
Who This Is For
You completed a Gottman, EFT, or RLT training and found it valuable — but you sense your couples need more range than any single protocol offers.
Private practice can be isolating. You want a community of curious, non-judgmental colleagues who actually understand the complexity of sitting with two people in conflict.
Not crisis cases necessarily — just the stuck ones, the plateau ones, the "am I missing something?" ones. You want a room of smart clinicians to think alongside you.
You're a pre-licensed therapist working under supervision, or a newly licensed clinician deepening your couples specialization. You want structure and mentorship as you grow.
You're drawn to the relational, erotic, and existential dimensions of couples work — not just communication scripts. You want a group that can go there with you.
You value evidence-based approaches but you know the real work happens in the relationship — the attunement, the rupture and repair, the moment of genuine contact.
What's Included
Live case consultation through a Gottman, RLT, EFT, and Esther Perel lens. Rotating presenters, open discussion, and a monthly teaching segment from Laurie.
A group-voted clinical read discussed together each month. No lectures — just curious clinicians connecting theory to their real caseloads. Starter list provided.
Between-session questions, resource sharing, case check-ins, and the occasional win to celebrate. Jump in when it's useful, lurk when life is busy.
Session Structure
Brief round-robin: what's alive in your couples work this month? One word or one sentence. Sets the tone and surfaces themes before we dive in.
First presenter shares a case (5 min). Group asks clarifying questions (5 min). Open multi-modal consultation — what does Gottman suggest? RLT? EFT? What would Esther Perel notice? (20 min). Presenter reflects back (5 min).
Second presenter takes the floor. Shorter format if time is tight — we focus on the sticking point, not the full case history. Presenters rotate so everyone gets airtime over the year.
Laurie shares a concept, technique, clip, or clinical observation. Topics rotate through the modalities — a Gottman intervention, an RLT frame, an EFT move, or an Esther Perel perspective on desire and intimacy.
What are you taking into your week? Laurie names a thread or theme from the session. Reminder of the WhatsApp group — burning questions and follow-up cases are always welcome there.
Book Club Reading List
The group votes on each book — these are starter nominations to get the conversation going. Spanning all four modalities plus attachment, somatics, and desire.
At the end of each book club session, members nominate titles for next month. Laurie posts a WhatsApp poll, voting closes in 48 hours, and the winner is announced with a purchase link. Members have ~3 weeks to read before the next session.

Your Facilitator
MS, LPC, SAS · Shoreside Therapies
Laurie brings a rare combination of advanced couples training to this group — certifications at Level 2 in both the Gottman Method and Relational Life Therapy, training directly with EFT founder Sue Johnson, and advanced study with Esther Perel.
Her philosophy: the best couples therapists aren't the ones who follow a model most faithfully. They're the ones who know several models well enough to move fluidly between them, reading each couple and each moment. This group exists because that kind of integration deserves a dedicated space.
"Finding your own style in couples work isn't a shortcut — it's the destination."
— Laurie Groh, MS, LPC, SAS
Space is limited to 6–8 therapists to ensure every clinician gets real airtime. A brief 15-minute consultation call is required before joining — not to screen you out, but to make sure this group is the right fit for where you are in your practice.
